Stopping blogging: A big thank you

Sooooo.. bit of a different post from me today. Probably the last post I'll ever do, what a weird and sad thought.

I just want to start off by saying thank you. Thank you from the very bottom of my heart to everyone who has read my posts over the last 4 years, your support has been amazing and I've loved interacting with you.

Long story short, I have to stop blogging. As you may have read in previous posts, my heart is set on becoming a teacher. And being a teacher means keeping a pretty low profile on social media. Now while I have never posted anything even slightly controversial on this blog, having myself so out there on the internet is just not something I can do anymore.

In a few days time, this blog will seize to exist, which is a really sad thought as it's something I have worked so hard on for over 4 years, and it almost feels like all that hard work and effort is going to nothing. But I know it's something I have to do, as if I were to continue this would suddenly become a really boring blog to read, with it having no photos of myself or anything even remotely personal posted on it.

I know people will think this is a bit extreme, but believe me when I say I have thought long and hard about it and it hasn't been a easy decision to make, but it's one I have to make.

The only social media form I am planning on keeping open at the moment with the 'Belle Splash' name is my Pinterest, so probably just about the least informing form of social media (lol).

If any of my blogger friends want to keep in touch with me, you can always email me at beautysplash75@gmail.com - I will definitely continue reading and commenting on all the blogs I love.

I hope you can understand this decision I have made, and again, thank you for all your support. It's been amazing.

Much love

Tasha

The least effective dry shampoo ever?

Now sometimes, you want to branch out, try something new that maybe you've never heard anyone ever talk about, because you think that way you may find a gem that's slipped between the cracks somehow.

This was not one of those times.

London loving

My boyfriend and I went on a little trip around London over the weekend, mostly to see Coldplay at Wembley but also just to have a wander around London, something we love doing and have done a lot over the past five years.

Today I thought I would share with you a few photos from our trip, hope you enjoy!

Going Cruelty Free & The Cruelty Free Brand Master List

When I first started looking into using only Cruelty Free makeup, I was honestly shocked at how many highstreet brands still do. Brands that seem ahead of the times, not behind.

Now I'm going to be honest in this post, as things like this always stir up a bit of controversy. I eat meat, I was a vegetarian for 5 years up until last year and then gave it up - for many reasons. I understand that in some ways, going cruelty free with my makeup may seem a bit hypocritical "Well why do you use cruelty free makeup if you still eat animals?" And all that. But I am a firm believer that any little thing that you can do to help a wider cause is worth trying, so I think giving cruelty free makeup is worth a go.

I was inspired to try and go Cruelty Free after reading some posts by Zelah from Sparrow Mint, one of my fave bloggers. And I thought, surely it can't be too difficult to go cruelty free with all my makeup?

We've got a flat! My new home wishlist: IKEA & Etsy

Exciting news on the blog today! My boyfriend and I have found a flat! We've been on the search for about a month, and we've seen some varying places (aka dirty, smelly or just plain awful). But a couple of days ago we found something totally perfect for us and we couldn't be happier!

Now everything has been processed and the flat is officially ours, I've started thinking about what kind of furniture we want to fill the space with. It's so exciting being able to have a total free leash and make everything your own to your own tastes. Problem is that I'm not 100% sure what my style is yet, but I have found some bits that I'm really excited for.

We've thought about going for a bit of a oak theme, as it really matches the colours already in the flat and it will just make the place a bit more homey. We really want a clean and modern style flat but also make it our own, so it's not so super pristine that no-one wants to touch anything.

I've picked out 5 pieces that I'm thinking about for today's post, as listed (from top left clockwise):
  • Work hard and be nice to people print: I'm really into prints with motivational/inspiring quotes on, I really think they can add some character into a room and also are just nice to look at when you are having a bad day. This particular one is from Etsy from a store called Paperfront. I'd definitely recommend checking them out if you're into prints! I'm not sure if I want a black or white frame for it yet, will decide closer to the time. The prints (with a frame in colour of your choice) are £14 with free UK shipping.
  • Nesna Bedside table: These little bedside tables from IKEA are only £9! I think the glass top and simple wooden design make for a really unique design that I think will really add something to a room. With a nice big plant like shown in the pictures on the IKEA website, I think this will look really nice in our bedroom.
  • Kallax Shelving unit: Although we don't have too much 'stuff' at the moment to fill a shelving unit with, I am sure we will end up accumulating books and dvds and other things over time, so this shelving unit will come in really useful. We also have quite a big space to fill in our living room so this will be a nice addition to that space. This unit is £55.
  • You are capable of amazing things print: Another print from the Paperfront shop on Etsy, I loved the quote on this one and think it'll look really nice beside the other print, possibly above my desk.
  • Micke Desk: I'm not 100% sure about this one, as I would like more a wood/white mixed table, but this one from IKEA would definitely fit all my needs. My Mac Mini would fit nicely on there and it would be a good workstation for the inevitable work I'll have from my PGCE next year. This desk is £60.

As you can see, nothing to expensive in this little list. As I'm only a student with a part time job and my boyfriend is yet to start his full time job till August, we are both trying to keep our eyes out for affordable but really nice pieces. Please let me know if you know of anywhere we could find anything nice to add to our flat, I am open to all ideas! I'm really excited to share with you all how our little space is progressing and talking lots about homeware!

Also if you aren't following me on Pinterest yet, please do! I have lots of boards with all my favourite things, including homeware. If you're reading this and have a Pinterest, please link it below so I can follow!

Getting the glow: my easy, go-to glowy look

I think we all love a good amount of glow in the summer. And as someone who has skin as dry as the sahara, I really need to fake-it-till-I-make-it when it comes to glowing skin. So this post is about my go-to glowy makeup for summer.

I'm all about the highlighter at the moment, and have been endlessly expressing my love for the Mary Lou Manizer for a while now. I really think highlighter can take your makeup to the next level, and as long as you don't over do it, it can add real radiance to the skin in a very healthy and subtle looking way.

For this look I used the following (in order of application):
  • Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation in Ivory
  • Bobbi Brown Corrector in Light Peach
  • Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer in Ivory
  • The Balm Mary Lou Manizer (for both all over lid shade on eyes and for cheek, nose and chin highlight)
  • Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette (used the shade Haute Chocolate to line upper and lower lashline and Champagne Truffle in the inner corners)
  • Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara
  • Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara
  • Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in 10
  • Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Transparent
  • Urban Decay Bronzer from Naked On The Run Palette
  • Nars Blusher in Unlawful
  • Benefit Browzing in Medium
  • Maybelline Brow Drama in Deep Brown
  • MAC Lipstick in Patisserie

Although this look is a little heavy for the summer months, I can see myself wearing it a lot. Not really a big one for changing up my looks for different seasons, I am all about that full coverage.

Theme Thursday: Sharing the blogger love & my favourite blogs

I was wondering if on my now very limited, saving-for-a-flat budget, if I'd have enough material to be able to blog about. So I was thinking What kind of posts don't require me spending a fortune in Boots? Which, as you can see, stemmed the idea for Theme Thursday.

There are always so many debates and issues being discussed in the blogosphere, so I thought why not dedicate one day a week to writing about something interesting and relatable. For this 'month' I have decided to go for the known and loved theme - Blogger Appreciation.

I think we all forget sometimes to appreciate other blogs that aren't our own. And it's easily done, we become so focused on our own work that we don't pay much attention to other people's. So hopefully this little series will help whoever is reading this find new blogs to follow and also help me to discover what blogs I love, why I love them and reacquaint myself with why I started all this in the first place.

So for today - My Favourite Bloggers. A little list of my top 5 favourite bloggers, explaining why I love them and giving a little info so maybe people reading this can find new blogs they love too. This list includes blogs with both larger and smaller followings, as it wouldn't be a truthful post without a mix of them both.
